About the Journal

The Legal and Judicial Journal is considered one of the leading peer-reviewed scientific periodicals specializing in legal and judicial studies in the State of Qatar. It is published by the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at Qatar’s Ministry of Justice, which serves as one of the scientific institutions dedicated to supporting legal research, promoting legal culture, and reinforcing the principles of justice and the rule of law. The journal is issued on a semiannual basis and has maintained a consistent publication schedule since its inception, continuing its academic mission of providing a distinguished platform for researchers, specialists, and those interested in legal and judicial affairs.

The first issue of the journal was published in 2007, marking the beginning of a distinguished scholarly journey that has enriched both the Qatari and Arab legal libraries with hundreds of peer-reviewed studies and research papers covering various branches of public and private law, as well as emerging legal issues arising from legislative and judicial developments at both the national and international levels. Through its successive publications and growing academic presence, the journal has established itself as the leading legal journal in Qatar. It has now reached its nineteenth volume and has published dozens of regular issues, in addition to special issues in both Arabic and English, as well as editions dedicated to republishing a selection of outstanding studies and research previously featured in its various issues.

The journal is committed to adhering to the highest academic standards in scholarly publishing. All submitted research and studies undergo rigorous peer-review procedures to ensure the quality, originality, and meaningful contribution of the published content to the advancement of legal knowledge. Accordingly, the journal publishes specialized legal research and studies, scholarly articles, doctrinal commentaries on current legislation, analytical studies of judicial rulings, and examinations of international agreements and the legal implications of their developments and amendments.

The journal’s role extends beyond the publication of academic research. It also documents and publishes significant legal opinions issued by the Fatwa Department of the Ministry of Justice, analyzing their content and highlighting the legal principles they establish. This contributes to the dissemination of legal awareness and provides a valuable academic and practical reference for researchers, judges, lawyers, and other legal practitioners. Furthermore, the journal includes a variety of sections dedicated to different aspects of law and the judiciary, addressing legislative, jurisprudential, and judicial issues of both scholarly and practical importance. As such, it serves as a comprehensive knowledge platform that contributes to the development of legal thought, supports scientific research, and strengthens collaboration between academic institutions and judicial and legislative bodies within Qatar and beyond.
